Flamed granite slab — what is it and what does it look like?
Flaming is a granite-finishing technique in which the stone's surface is exposed to very high temperature (over 1200°C) with a gas torch. The heat causes the minerals on the surface to fracture, creating a characteristic rough, matte texture. The visual effect: instead of a mirror-like polish, a grainy, three-dimensional texture. The deep black of the granite takes on a graphite tone, creating an elegant contrast with the polished elements of a monument. To the touch it is rough and matte — quite different from polished stone.
