Granite heart memorial: the tilted "My Heart" model

A granite heart memorial is a form of remembrance that stays legible for years. The "My Heart" model has a tilted surface, so the inscription is legible even from a greater distance. It works as a stand-alone grave marker, as a stone heart for the grave, or as an additional plaque on a family monument.

Why Nero granite: contrast and durability

The deep black of Nero granite (Swedish) forms a background on which engraved inscriptions and images have high contrast, so every detail stays sharp. The mirror polish adds gravity to the granite heart memorial and makes it easier to keep clean. Such a stone heart, made of Nero granite, is a durable part of a headstone. Nero granite is extremely durable, so a heart for a grave made of this stone keeps its look for decades.

Material and workmanship

The heart is made of Nero granite (Swedish) in deep black, with a mirror gloss and polished edges. The plate is about 1–1.5 cm thick. The tilted surface does not let rainwater and dirt settle, which makes it easier to keep clean.

A tilted design instead of a flat plaque

Unlike traditional flat plaques, the granite heart has a precisely made slope. It results from the supporting wedge attached to the back at the factory. As a result the inscriptions are legible from a greater distance, and the construction is ready to stand without additional supports. The tilted surface prevents rainwater and dirt from settling, which protects the diamond engraving from premature dulling.

Diamond engraving: text and portrait

Text and portrait are chiselled with a diamond straight into the structure of the stone. With diamond engraving we transfer onto the stone not only text but also precise portraits of photographic quality. The engraving is cut into the stone's structure, so it is irreversible, lasts a lifetime and resists frost and UV radiation. We treat every order individually. Before production we prepare a free visualisation for your approval, so you see the result before you commission the engraving.

How to install the heart on a monument

1. Prepare the slab: place the heart on the horizontal slab of the monument.
2. Check the wedge: the wedge is already attached at the back, so the heart stands on its own.
3. For stability: we recommend stone-masonry silicone applied in spots under the wedge.

As a stonemasonry workshop with many years of experience we look after every stage of production: from selecting the granite block to the final polishing of the edges. Our granite hearts are not mass-produced. They are handcrafted pieces supported by modern technology.

Care

Clean water with a little mild detergent is enough for cleaning. Avoid greasy pastes and waxes, which can reduce the visibility of the engraving. The mirror polish is best wiped with a soft microfibre cloth.

A child's grave and an urn grave: which size to choose

For a child's or urn grave we recommend the 30x25 cm size at 570 PLN, because space is limited and the heart should stay proportionate to the whole. Choose 35x30 cm as an additional plaque on a family monument and 40x35 cm as a stand-alone element with a long inscription and a large portrait.
