Book-shaped memorial stone — material and craftsmanship
The open book-shaped memorial plate is an elegant funerary form made from natural black granite. At 30×40×2 cm, this is the "medium" size — larger than a small plaque but smaller than a full monument. The granite is polished on all sides: front, sides and back, giving the plate a monumental appearance even without an additional stand. Black granite does not fade under UV and does not crack from frost — it will look the same in ten or twenty years without any maintenance. Primarily designed as a pet memorial (dogs, cats), it also works as a discreet commemorative plaque.
What can be engraved — portrait and inscription
Included in the price of 780 PLN:
- Portrait — engraved from your photo using the sandblasting technique on the upper "page" of the book. Just send a clear photo — we convert it to a vector and engrave it in stone.
- Inscription — up to 40 characters on the lower half: name, dates, dedication. Minimum letter height 10 mm — legible from several steps away.
Before production we send a free digital visualisation for your approval. You can request changes before we start engraving.
Stand and wedges — displaying the plate upright
By default the plate lies flat on the grave or memorial spot. If you want to display it upright like an open book, we offer two options:
- Polished stand (3 cm): a granite base with a slot matching the plate thickness (2 cm). The plate slots in and stands stably under its own weight. Same black granite — a cohesive set.
- Supporting wedges: simple granite wedges that prop the plate from behind at an angle — a more affordable alternative to the stand.

How many characters fit — is 40 enough for a longer dedication?
40 characters cover a name (5 chars) + dates ("2010–2024" = 9 chars) + ~26 chars for a dedication. Example: "Always in our hearts" = 20 chars — fits comfortably. Longer texts can be arranged for an extra charge. Contact us via the contact form.
Can I order a different granite colour?
This product is available in black granite only — the most durable and highest-contrast background for engraving. For grey, brown or white granite, please contact us separately via the contact form or call +48 698 936 157 for a custom quote.
Is the stand stable outdoors?
Yes. The stand is 3 cm thick with a slot matching the plate (2 cm + 0.5 mm tolerance). The plate slots in without adhesive and holds under its own weight. For cemeteries, we can optionally seal the slot with stone silicone — on request.
How long does production take and what happens after I order?
After ordering: (1) we contact you by e-mail or phone, (2) we ask for the photo and inscription text, (3) we send a digital visualisation (usually 2–3 working days), (4) after your approval, production starts — 10–14 working days. Shipped by DPD or DHL courier with tracking.
What is the difference between the "small" and "medium" book plate?
The small book plate measures approx. 20×30 cm — it fits a shorter inscription and a smaller portrait. The medium (this product, 30×40 cm) gives significantly more space for a portrait and a longer dedication. We recommend the medium if you want a legible portrait and full dates.
