A bone-shaped memorial is one of the most recognisable ways to honour a dog. This XL bone-shaped dog memorial is the most generous size in our collection — built for owners of larger breeds, or for anyone who simply wants a bigger, more prominent tribute with room for a longer inscription. Carved from solid natural granite in brown or grey, it will last for decades without any maintenance.
Every piece is hand-finished in our own stoneworks. Before production we always send a free visualisation of the inscription for approval, so the finished memorial looks exactly as you expect.
How does the XL size compare to the "large" bone memorial?
The collection comes in three sizes: small (approx. 30×17 cm), large (approx. 40×22 cm), and this one — the XL / oversized version, the biggest and most striking in the whole series. Who is this size for?
The XL size is best suited to owners of larger dog breeds, and to anyone who wants the memorial to remain legible from further away — for example on a shared pet cemetery plot where other markers are also larger. It is also a good choice if you plan a longer inscription (name, two dates, a short farewell) and want comfortable spacing rather than cramped lettering.

Personalisation and engraving
A short inscription (up to 40 characters) is included as standard, using diamond engraving — a precise, permanent technique that will not fade with weather exposure. We can also add a porcelain photo 9×12 cm, where ceramic pigment is fused into the glaze, or a photo crystal 9×12 cm, where the image is fused into bevelled glass at very high temperature for a glossy, layered effect.
Practical tip: for a plate this size, a support wedge is worth adding — it tilts the memorial slightly so the inscription is easier to read and rain runs off rather than pooling on a flat surface. One thing to plan for: because of the larger footprint (33×30 cm, approx. 15 kg), set it on firm, level ground; on soft soil, sinking the bottom edge slightly in gives extra stability.

- Prepare the ground: Clean and level the spot, removing stones or roots that could destabilise the plate.
- Place the memorial: Position it on the chosen spot; on soft ground, sink the bottom edge slightly for stability.
- Optional support wedge: For a slight backward tilt that improves readability, add a granite support wedge under the rear edge.
- Optional permanent fixing: On a hard base (paving, plinth) you can additionally secure it with stone-mason silicone or mounting tape — fully cured after 24 hours.
