Large granite heart for an existing grave
The large granite heart memorial is for people who want to commemorate a loved one on an existing grave. There is no need to put up a new headstone or call a stonemason: the heart stands on the current memorial.
The heart measures 40x30 cm and is 5 cm (50 mm) thick. With this thickness and weight it looks like a proper part of the headstone, not a thin plaque. Black Swedish granite is a good background for an inscription and a portrait: the engraving comes out light and clear.

Lettering colour
The letters of the inscription can be:
- white,
- grey,
- silver,
- gold,
- real 23¾-carat gold leaf (priced separately).
Graphics
You can add a graphic to the inscription: a religious motif (e.g. an angel), a floral motif or another one that suits the person being remembered. We engrave the graphic with the same technique as the inscription.
Portrait
We engrave the portrait from the photo you send us. We retouch the photo before engraving, so an older photograph will also work. On black Swedish granite the portrait looks almost like a photo.
How to order a heart with an inscription or portrait
- Choose the option and place your order.
- Send us the text of the inscription, the lettering colour and, for the portrait option, the photo.
- We prepare a design and send it to you for approval. We only start engraving once you have approved it.
- We engrave, pack and ship the heart. The whole process usually takes 5 to 10 working days.
Installation on an existing grave
The heart arrives with a support wedge and double-sided tape already attached. You do not need silicone or tools:
- Choose the spot on the headstone.
- Peel the backing off the double-sided tape.
- Stand the heart on the surface.
The heart weighs about 15-18 kg and its sides are polished, so it looks good from every angle.
Material and engraving
Diamond engraving cuts into the stone instead of painting it, so the inscription and portrait do not fade. A 40x30 cm surface has room for a portrait, a longer verse or a dedication from the family.

FAQ: frequently asked questions
Will I see the design before it is made?
Yes. Once we have the inscription and photo, we prepare a design and send it to you for approval. We only engrave after you approve it.
Can I use an old or low-quality photo?
Yes. We retouch photos before engraving, and you will see the result in the design sent for approval.
Can the letters be gold?
Yes. The letters can be gold, and on request we make them from real 23¾-carat gold leaf. Gold leaf is priced separately.
Do I need silicone or a stonemason to install it?
No. The heart has an attached wedge and double-sided tape. Just peel the backing off the tape and stand the heart on the headstone.
How much does the large 40x30 cm granite heart weigh?
At 5 cm thick the heart weighs about 15-18 kg. This makes it stable and hard to move by accident.
Will the engraving survive snow and frost?
Yes. Diamond engraving is a physical process, not a chemical one: the stone is permanently cut, so the inscription stays legible whatever the weather.
Can two portraits fit on the heart?
Yes, the 40x30 cm format has room for two portraits side by side. The price of the portrait option (980 PLN) covers one portrait, so please agree the second one with us before ordering.
How is such a heavy heart shipped?
We pack it in double boxes with a thick layer of polystyrene and protected edges. The parcel is insured and we are responsible for it arriving intact.
How long does it take?
Usually 5 to 10 working days. Engraving a large surface takes longer because the machine has to reproduce every detail accurately.
Why black Swedish granite?
It has a very fine grain and a deep black colour, so the portrait comes out clearly, almost like a photo. This effect cannot be achieved on lighter granites.
