Flamed granite plate — what is it and how does it look?
Flaming is a granite finishing technique where the stone surface is exposed to extremely high temperature (over 1200°C) using a gas torch. The minerals on the surface crack, creating a characteristic rough and matte texture. The effect: instead of a mirror polish — a grainy, three-dimensional surface. Deep black granite takes on a graphite hue, creating an elegant contrast with polished memorial elements.

Does flaming affect granite durability?
No — if anything, flaming removes the outermost most absorbent layer of granite, making it slightly less susceptible to moisture ingress. Mechanical durability is identical to polished granite. The 60×30 plate will withstand all weather conditions without any sealing or maintenance.
